Allison Zito Basham, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Psychodrama Facilitator who has worked in the addiction field for over nine years. In 2004, Allison earned her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Kennesaw State University. In 2007, she earned a Masters in Professional Counseling with a Concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. During this time, she worked in residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment for adolescents and young adults. She completed her internship at New Hope Counseling, where she provided group, individual, and family counseling to court mandated individuals. While at New Hope she served as the juvenile substance abuse evaluator and group facilitator for Forsyth County Juvenile Court. In 2005, Allison began working with Solutions Intensive Outpatient Program as a group, individual, and family therapist. In 2009, she became the Clinical Director of the program and worked as the Clinical Director until 2012.
In July 2013, Allison became an Intensively Trained DBT therapist. She completed her training through Behavioral Tech, LLC and is apart of a Consultation Team with other DBT professionals. She is interested in finding a way to utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in the treatment of substance abuse. In 2015, Allison became the owner of Recovery Inside Out, LLC (RIO, LLC). At RIO, LLC, Allison provides counseling services to indviduals and families. In April, 2016, Allison joined Peachtree Psychology, LLC and acts a an indpendent contractor providing counseling services to individuals and families.
Her expertise has been shaped not only by her extensive professional experience but more importantly, from her own journey of overcoming trauma and addiction. She specializes in adolescent and young adult substance abuse and addiction; assessment and treatment placement for substance use; depression; anxiety; sexual trauma; relationship issues; parenting skills (with particular expertise around adolescent and young adult concerns); after care support; recovery management; DBT individual; self-harming behaivor; and suicidal ideation. Allison serves individuals and families in private practice at her office in Roswell. She provides a safe and supportive environment for clients to gain insight into core issues and heal trauma and pain. She has been interviewed by CNN, HBO, and several local news affiliates, speaking on the affects of addiction. She also speaks to the public on alcohol and drug abuse awareness, providing education and prevention.
Allison believes personal growth is a life time journey and actively participates in on-going groups and education. She also believes in the healing power of connecting with nature and enjoys hiking, riding motorcycles, meditation, and spending time with her husband, son, and dogs.
